Conquest U10s Win At Explorers!

In their final tournament the Conquest U10 group have had an excellent day over at the Explorers tournament. The boys showed excellent levels of skill and ability to take the win! We entered just a single side for this tournament:

Conquest U10s

  1. Martin Glenn (GK)

  1. Larell Walker (C)

  2. Harley Shanks

  3. Oliver Connolly Murray-Gates

  4. James Davies

  5. Brandin McAlroy

  6. Ishe Kazuwa

The team started very brightly and matching their last tournament effort of going unbeaten in the group stages. Winning 3 of their group games and drawing the final one meant that they finished second in their group though and henceforth faced a stern test in the quarter finals.

The quarter final was played against Taplow United and Conquest showed their defensive ferocity and clinical finishing in taking a 1-0 win at full time.

The semi final was against a strong Hampstead side which ended in a 1-1 draw with the tie going to penalties to decide the winner and finalist. After some excellent penalties and nerves of steel Conquest eventually triumphed 6-5.

The final was played against London Athletic a side that Conquest had faced previously and knew well. It was competitive and required maximum effort by both sides but eventually the tie finished 0-0 leaving both sides with the stressful task of a sudden death penalty shootout. Conquest showed their steely determination again with 2 saves and winning the penalty shootout 4-3 to take the cup!

The player of the tournament has to go to Brandin McAlroy who was outstanding throughout and demonstrated all manners of impressive ability whilst the goal of the tournament goes to Ishe (again) who scored the winning penalty in the final against London Atheltics.

After 2 wins in 2 tournaments the U10s are well prepared going into their U11 season and are all looking forward to a fruitful season ahead with as many friendlies as possible in between! Well done to the players, the parents and Michael/Ronan.
