Conquest U16 Win First Game 14-1 To Start Conquest Trophy Defence In Impressive Fashion

Conquest U16 began their season with a huge win in their first competitive game. They were pitched against Omonia Youth White, away from home in the first round of the Middlesex U16 County Cup. A competition that Conquest won last year after defeating Bedfont in the final.

A good start to the competition and the defence of our trophy was key for the boys and they did little to show that the pressure was getting to them as they got off the mark very early. Racing into a 5-0 lead by half time, the opposition did net late in the second half with a penalty but Conquest proved too strong after ending up eventual 14-1 winners. Much to be said about the opposition keeper as he made some outstanding saves throughout the fixture.

There were mainly outstanding performances throughout the side but special praise must be reserved for the manager's man of the match; Obinna Ogbonna who managed to net a scarcely believable 6 goals in addition to 3 assists. The captain's man of the match was Charlie Tivey who orchestrated the pace of the game from the first to the last from the centre of the pitch. A special mention should also go to Jared Myers who despite the fact he is eligible age-wise for U15 football will be playing U16 football for the 2017/18 season and still managed to score 3 goals, one being an outstanding free kick, as well as registering an assist.
